Brad Williams is an architect and the owner of ASL design
studio. He went to school at Lawrence Technological University, where he got
his Masters of Architecture from 1982-1987. While attending school Brad worked as
a draftsman at Ghafari Associates from May 1983 – July 1984. After that he
moved on to work at Albert Kahn Family of Companies as an architect from July
1984 – August 1991. He worked for one other company (The WBDG Group) as an
architect before he opened up his own design firm in March of 1993. Williams is
part of several groups and associates like: American Institute of Architects
(AIA), National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB),
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design – Accredited Professional
(LEED-AP).
Today ASL is a privately held firm in the Michigan area and
Brad now works as the Architectural designer and business coordinator. He is
currently licensed in 19 states with California being the most recent. Brad
Williams and his team are committed to producing designs that function for
comfort, and inspire the people who use them.
Just a crazy question. What does ASL Design Studio stand for? Usually companies base it on their business partners' names like how we did our blog STL theory because it stands for Stephanie, Tiffany and Leanne. Is that the case of their company as well? Also are all the people who work with Brad architects? Or does he have interior designers (for example) as well?

ASL use to be called Architectural Solutions Ltd. and just recently they shorted it to ASL Design Studio. At the company they have a wide range of professions from architects, interior designers, and graphic or visual arts people. But yes Brad does have interior designers and architects that he works with. For the interior designers, some specialize if certain feilds like retail design, enviromental design, airport design and urban planning, to name a few.

Does Brad involve himself with any of the interior design or does he deal mainly with the architecture and hires for the interiors? He sounds like a very intelligent business man to have built such a successful and well rounded firm.
